Dr. Jennifer Houser Wegner is a Curator in Penn Museum's Egyptian Section and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Egyptology from the University of Pennsylvania and her Doctorate from Yale University on the topic of Cultural and Literary Continuity in Demotic Wisdom Literature. She is a specialist in Demotic language. Her research interests include ancient Egyptian literary texts, the status of women in ancient Egypt, and the presentation of Egypt in popular culture. She is the co-author with Joe Wegner of The Sphinx that Travelled to Philadelphia: The Story of the Colossal Sphinx in the Penn Museum. She has also served as Epigrapher/Artist on expeditions to Bersheh, Saqqara, and Abydos in Egypt.
