Dissertation Research Award

Each year the Graduate Division of the School of Arts and Sciences solicits nominations from Graduate Group Chairs for qualified PhD Candidates to receive the Dissertation Research Award. The Dissertation Research Award is competitive so not all nominated Candidates will be chosen to receive funding.

The Dissertation Research Award is designed for PhD Candidates who are in the early-to-intermediate stage of dissertation research. Candidates are eligible to receive two DRAs during the course of their graduate career. The maximum award is $5000 and can be used for eligible expenses, including travel and research related expenses.

If nominated, the Candidates will receive information from the Graduate Chair and Graduate Coordinator with respect to their part in the application process and any required supporting documents they need to submit.

The Graduate Coordinator will send out information in advance of the next nomination period.

Dissertation Completion Fellowship

Each year the Graduate Division of the School of Arts and Sciences solicits nominations from Graduate Group Chairs for qualified PhD Candidates to receive a Dissertation Completion Fellowship. The Dissertation Completion Fellowship is competitive so not all nominated Candidates will be chosen to receive funding.

The Dissertation Completion Fellowship is designed for PhD Candidates who could reasonably finish their Dissertation during the year in which they hold the DCF. The DCF provides a standard academic-year stipend, general fee, tuition, and health insurance. PhD Candidates awarded a DCF who do not complete their Dissertation during the year in which they hold the DCF are usually ineligible to receive future fellowship aid from SAS.

If nominated, the Candidates will receive information from the Graduate Chair and Graduate Coordinator with respect to their part in the application process and any required supporting documents they need to submit.

The Graduate Coordinator will send out information in advance of the next nomination period.
