Penn Visiting Scholar Margaret Geoga Appointed Assistant Professor of Egyptology at The University of Chicago

Margaret (Maggie) Geoga, who has been a visiting scholar in NELC during the 2022-23 year as an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Wolf Humanities Center, has accepted a position at the University of Chicago as Assistant Professor of Egyptology. In Spring 2023, she has been teaching a seminar in NELC called "Imagining Ancient Egypt: A History of Popular Fascination from Antiquity to the Present." Maggie came to Penn from Brown University, where she completed her PhD in 2020 with her dissertation "Receptions of a Middle Egyptian Poem: A Textual and Material Study of The Teaching of Amenemhat in the New Kingdom."
