Fulbright Scholar

Mert Deniz received his BA in the American Culture and Literature Program of the Faculty of Language and History-Geography at Ankara University. He continued his education in the History Department of Bilkent University and completed his MA with a thesis on the changing foreign policies of the United States and Russia during the First World War. At present, he is a PhD Candidate in the American Culture and Literature Department of Hacettepe University. His primary research area is the diplomatic and political history of the United States with a multidisciplinary approach, examining the history of the ABCFM in the Ottoman Empire and the function of literature, education, and arts in transnational affairs. Recently, he has taught English language and academic writing courses as an Instructor in the English Language and Literature program of TED University, and he is a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania for the academic year 2023-24.
